summer | photos

sigh...

Summer is slowly inching to a close.  Here in Virginia, school hasn't started yet so we are hanging on to every last bit of it.  This last month we have spent a lot of time swimming, hiking around local parks and swimming in the river.  The weather here is perfect for exploring.  I have a feeling we will be doing quite a bit more before school starts on the 31st.

Lakeridge Marina:

This area was so lush and green.  It was right by the lake, too, so as we took the path around we could see the water.  Just beautiful.

Leesylvania State Park:

This was the kids favorite day so far.  They are little waterbugs and enjoy every chance to get in the water.  It wouldn't be summer without throwing some burgers on the grill.  Perfection...

We are definitely having a grand summer here.  I will be completely honest and say that I am ready for fall.  I need my leggings and sweaters,  my roasted marshmallows and a fire pit with friends.  For now, here's to a few more summer adventures...

a beautiful day

Yesterday was absolutely lovely.  Not too hot or cold, no wind and lots of sunshine.  We took full advantage by playing in the sprinklers and coloring with the giant box of chalk I picked up for them.

recent scraps

So, I have taken on my paper scrapbooking again.  It is so rewarding to pull out paints, papers and embellishments to play with.  I love the feel of the finished project in my hands instead of just a new image for my screen saver.  You see, I never actually print my digital pages.  It is just too much expense for me.  I thought it would be fun to come drop some photos of the last few pages I have done.

This is a fun project I have started for the Mixed Media class at Studio Calico.
Its my first class and the first week has been awesome.  I am learning so much about mixing different mediums to get a fun pretty look for scrapping.  I have a feeling it will come in handy for other art projects as well.

Of course since I love to have so much to do, I am still digital scrapping for several teams.  Yesterday Paislee Press had a new release.  I love her templates so much.

That's it for this time.  I will be back soon with more Project Life pages.

Garden Flowers and Kitty Cats

Tonight as the sun was starting to go down, this little love came running up to me with a handful of little flowers.  Not just any flowers...the flowers from the little bushes in my front flower bed.  She was so cute and so full of love that I couldn't even begin to be angry.  Of course I had to grab a few photos.  I think we took about 5 minutes total to grab these.  The light was perfect, she was in a good mood and her kitties even let her hold them.  I call that a very big win.

As you can see, the cats were not really happy about being loved on but they tolerated her very nicely.
